Fall 2023 at Epiphany

This fall, there are tons of great ways to grow in God’s grace at Epiphany. With two new Study Series, a new children’s homily series, a new sermon series, and plenty of outreach and social events to boot, Epiphany remains committed to our vision help people rediscover the love of God in the Christian gospel.

Fall Sermon Series: The Divine Difference – How Jesus Inverts the Values of the World (and Ours Too!)

For our sermon series this fall, we’ll be studying Paul’s letter to the Philippians, catching a glimpse into how the Christian faith puts us at odds with the values of the world, and also against our own intuitions and expectations. Also: for the kiddos each week, we’re jumping in with God’s Big 10 – a children’s homily focused on the 10 Commandments. Starting Monday, September 24.

Study Series: Family History – God’s work in the context of a people, place, and time

Let’s demystify the Old Testament! This dinner and bible study will explore the history of Israel and how each book of the Old Testament gives insight into God’s relationship with his chosen people. Six Weeks, Mondays, Sept. 25 – October 29. Dinner at 5:30pm, study from 6:00pm. – 7:00 p.m.

Study Series: God & Country – How to be expatriates of heaven and strive for the common good

An exploration of the Bible’s teaching on the Christian’s relationship to the government, with a focus on principles for decision making instead of specific policies. Four weeks, Mondays, Nov. 6 – December 4. Dinner at 5:30pm, Study from 6:00pm. – 7:00 p.m.

Important Dates & Other Opportunities:

  • Sunday Prayers: Our 9AM Prayer Time Returns. Join members of the church as we pray for the needs of the Ligonier Valley and those we love.
  • Rescue Dogs Food Truck – October 13-15. Join our mission partners at Light of Life Rescue Mission as their food truck, Rescue Dogs, sets up to serve at Fort Ligonier Days. See Pastor Bryan if you are interested in volunteering to serve on the truck during the festival weekend.
  • Annual Meeting – Sunday Nov. 12. Save the date for Epiphany’s annual meeting, where we will elect vestry members, review the work of the year past, and announce plans for the holiday season.
  • First Communion Class – All children of an understanding age (usually around 4 years old) are welcome to attend an upcoming class to prepare for their first communion. See Pastor Bryan for more information.
  • Calling all Musicians! If you have any musical gifts, whether they are vocal talents or playing a musical instrument, we need your help this Advent! As a part of our pre-Christmas season of prayer and preparation, Dir. of Music and Arts Tim Landy and Pastor Bryan are in search of unique musical pieces to incorporate into our worship.
